Positive Effects of Exercise

Everyone knows that physical activity is good for them, but do they understand why? If everybody knew why exercise was so good for them, I doubt they would ignore it. There are many reasons why you need physical activity such as; improving mental health, physical health, self-esteem, balance, coordination, and reduced risk of disease. Physical activity releases endorphins into your body. Endorphins are a neurochemical that are released when exposed to exercise. Endorphins make you feel good and better your mood. You only need about 20 minutes of physical activity each day. Studies have shown that any activity can reduce depression and anxiety. You can incorporate exercise into your daily lifestyle by taking small steps such as: taking the stairs instead of the elevator, planting flowers in the garden, walking the dog, etc. Some people think going to a gym is a better way to motivate themselves to exercise.

If you are one of those people that think signing up for the gym will help motivate you to exercise, try keeping your gym bag on the passenger seat in your car. Your bag will be a constant reminder to get to the gym! You could also purchase a membership to a gym that is on your way to and from work; convenience is key.

By getting in those 20 minutes a day, your whole life will change for the better. Not only will your physical health improve but your chances of disease will dramatically reduce. When you consistently start adding exercise into your daily routine, you will start seeing results such as a slimmer waist and not being winded when walking up a flight of stairs. These positive life improvements can boost your self-esteem by making you feel good about what you have accomplished. You will also see a change in your coordination and balance, especially while aging.

Exercising has many positive effects on your life. All you need is the motivation get up and get out there. It takes 21 days to create a habit and today is day 1.
